Was my refrigerator cold enough? Was the freezer? After reading articles about bacterial growth in refrigerated products, and how bacteria continues to grow as products slowly freeze in the freezer, yuck, I knew it was time to get an accurate reading. I have been guilty of turning the fridge down [warmer] to save electricity, or to kill the noise, but probably was just encouraging mold, spoilage and potential problems. The Polder arrived today and in 5 minutes I knew exactly how cold the refrigerator was in all areas, and the freezer. Both were set too warm. There is a blue safety area indicator on the Polder face in the acceptable 40 degree-ish range for the refrigerator. I have readjusted the settings and feel much relieved. In a power outage this could be one of the most useful tools in the house. It's a very sturdy, well-made product, like something from when products were made well and to last. This looks like it will outlast me. At this price, I recommend everyone invest in one.
