Koolatron(tm) Vending fridge-Silver Review

I bought this about a year ago, it was very, very discounted. (How about $10. seriously!)
The unit has the ability to vend two different 12oz can products. It holds four cans for each product. It works almost like a real vending machine. The coin slot really works, it has a refrigeration unit, and it does dispense product.
It worked fine for eleven months. Unfortunately, the power board went bad. This makes the whole unit inoperable.
I contacted Koolatron, they offered to send a replacement board for $50.
Oh well, for $10 it was fun while it lasted.

Nostalgia RVM-560 Retro-Style 18-Can Vending Machine Review

This is a resurrection of the 'Ice 3' vending machine a few years ago.That machine lasted about a year before I had to replace the small internal fan.I decided to buy this one because it's a fun little machine that the kids enjoy getting their drinks without them opening the refrigerator door all the time.And, it looks cool. I'm hoping this one will last longer than the 'Ice 3' since the mechanics look identical.

I also have a Koolatron Vending fridge at my office.The Koolatron keeps the drinks colder but it only holds 10 cans, two in a holding area that you can only get to if you open the machine.I'm always running out of drinks and it seems i'm always opening up the door.

I like the Koolatron as far as it keeps the drinks colder but I like the Nostalgia because you can load 18 cans at once.

PROS: Looks, Holds 18-cans
CONS: Cans could be colder.

I bought this for my 7 year old and he loves it.It operates great, just like a real vending machine.I originally got this because I thought it was a good way for him to put money in a bank, but you don't need to put coins in it. I highly recommend this.It's so cute.

Coleman Stirling Power Cooler with Free A/C Adaptor Included Review

I use this as a beer fridge and camping cooler. It draws only 4 amps at 12 volts, and that's at max freeze. I've had it running continuously for two years no problems, just clean the filter once a month. This cooler uses a Stirling Free Piston compressor that has no friction. Well worth the money over the thermo-couple type you find at WalMart. Do the research.

Koolatron WC12G Slim Countertop 12-Bottle Thermoelectric Wine Cellar, Black Review

While the product seems decent, I had a terrible time with receiving it in one piece. The first shipment which came Ground UPS resulted in a corner of the refrigerator cracked off of it. Apparently the folks who send it out are highly opposed to actually wrapping it for shipment since it came in the box that you would find on the shelf in a store -- without any additional packing.I called Amazon and told them and they said they'd send out another one overnight (but I would need to send back the broken one, which I did). I asked them to take some care to pack the one they were overnighting and the agent send she would add it to her notes to the shippers. Low and behold, the replacement fridge came overnighted free of charge, but again they did not back it for shipment.This time instead of having the corner cracked off, there was simply a hair-line crack on that same corner.It was spared because apparently overnight shipping requires less handling and bouncing around than Ground shipping.

Both models in spite of lack of care by the seller to pack it for cross country shipment worked when I plugged them in, but I will be curious for how long the wine refrigerator with the hairline crack will work since all of the jarring during shipment will surely have an impact on electronics. Unfortunately, since I had a custom build on my kitchen cabinets, I am stuck with this machine and just holding my breath that it will continue to work for a long while.

I would advise anyone who is even remotely thinking to buy this machine to look elsewhere if you want to spend money and receive something in one piece. Just a suggestion especially if you don't enjoy banging your head off the wall talking to attendants and re-wrapping returns.

I was quite inspired to write this review and hopefully spare someone a lot of trouble.

Koolatron KWC-4 Coca-Cola Personal 6-Can Mini Fridge Review

I really like iced apple juice, but the ice was melting before I ever finished my drink. I was going through apple juice like crazy, but never really drinking much of it. I bought this personal fridge to cut down on wasting apple juice (don't like it all watered down from melted ice). It works so well, that I can fill a 12oz glass with juice, put in a few cubes of ice, and seven hours later, the ice has not melted. Think about it...seven hours! If I leave a glass of ice and juice out for 30 minutes, the ice has melted down to little bitty bits and the juice is too watery.

I used the "Mastercool MSC52224A Infrared Thermometer in Case with FREE MSC52220 Analog Thermometer" that I bought from Amazon to check the temperature performance. The manual for the mini fridge says that it is capable of cooling to 32 (deg F) below ambient. I checked it on a hot day, a warm day, a cool day, and several times between using the digital IR thermometer and it is consistently 32-45 degrees cooler inside the fridge than the outside temperature. Even on a 90 degree day the ice did not melt and I didn't have to replace my drink. The inside temperature at the warmest spot was consistently hovering around 45 to 47 degrees (F). My drink was at around 36 to 38 degrees, depending on where I measured it.
On the days that were around 70 degrees, this fridge read temperatures close to freezing. In fact, I was amazed when I pulled out a frosty glass of apple juice. It happened only once, but still...worth mentioning.
I think the trick to getting this to work optimally is to provide several inches of space for the back end where it vents out the heat. I used the thermometer there as well- the vent on either side exhausts at about 90 degrees (F) but at a low volume so it is not very useful as a space heater.

The unit runs quiet- very quiet. It comes with both an AC adapter, and a DC lighter-socket adapter for the car. The power switch has three positions- Off (middle) to the right is 110AC, and to the left is 12VDC (car). There is a single green LED to indicate ON operation, there are two warm air exhausts on each side at the rear, and two cool air intakes- one at the back plate, and one on the top at the aft end. This is why ventilation and spacing is important- due to the proximity of the hot air exhaust and cool air intake- there needs to be room for the warm air to dissipate and not be drawn in by the cool air intake. The manual says 6 inches space all around, I've found that about half that works in my situation.

I have not tried a six-pack, or tried using it in a car. What I can say is that if you like to have a cold drink handy to sip on all day while you study, this unit is worth every penny. I have not had to waste a glass of juice because it was watered down since using this unit- for that, 5 stars easily.
