Taylor TruTemp Refrigerator/ Freezer Thermometer - DialI've owned three of these Taylor TruTemp model 3507 thermometers for several years.The dial faces used to have the Fahrenheit scale in large numbers, with the Celsius scale in small numbers on the inner ring.The current dial faces are the opposite, with Celsius having the larger numbers.
Pros:
- Stainless steel case, glass face, two methods to hook onto a refrigerator [wire] shelf, and they can be placed flat on a shelf.
- Attractive and not fragile.
Cons:
- "TruTemp" should mean TRUE TEMPERATURE; i.e., these three devices should all show the [same] correct temperature.That didn't happen in my test.Here are the results, after allowing the thermometers several hours to adjust to each new environment:
...freezer: -18f, -15f, -18f
...fridge: 26f, 30f, 28f
...room: 65f, 69f, 64f
Such inconsistencies for a freezer thermometer might be tolerable, but all three refrigerator readings were too low. I.e., if it was actually 26f to 30f in the fridge as these thermometers said, the water jugs we keep in there would at least have iced over.There was no ice, and there hasn't been any ice in the jugs.
The only reading that seemed to be dead on was one thermometer that read 69f in a room where our Carrier thermometer and another good thermometer also read 69.
Summary:
These units are probably OK for a freezer, but the three that I own give the wrong readings for the non-freezer section of a refrigerator.
One of three was sufficiently accurate to use for a room thermometer, but that's not their claim to fame.
