When we remodeled our kitchen in 2006 we had the following criteria for our new refrigerator: counter depth, water dispenser in the door and ice maker (not necessarily in the door)
After many hours of research, both online and at different stores we selected an LG French door model with freezer on the bottom.

After it was installed we noticed that the temperature showed over 90 degrees, whereas the room was about 72 degrees. Also the water dispenser flowed very slowly. According to the manual you were supposed to pull out the unit and vacuum the back. Since the unit had just been installed we called support and they referred us to the authorized tech who came out to check it. He then told us that the fridge is designed to be free-standing in the room, not "pushed" in the space between the cabinets. And then the temperature gauge would function correctly. Note - the unit is NOT built-in. The water trickle from the dispenser was working as designed.

About one year later, yes, right as the warranty had expired in 2007, a small, thumbnail sized plastic tab broke off the bottom wide drawer- almost $300.00 in parts and labor to replace.

A few weeks ago, in September 2009, the plastic frame that holds the bottom glass shelf (over the two half size drawers) broke in the front left corner and it is now held together with duct tape. Two weeks later another tiny plastic part that holds the lid to the left most drawer.

When it comes to the general construction and design of the drawers it is substandard and LG should be ashamed of themselves. The half drawers are designed for fruits and veggies, but if you put anything heavier than lettuce in them, they fall off the convoluted rails and you need an engineering degree to put them back in.

Support and customer service assures us that we are the only ones ever complaining about this. Replacing plastic parts is `standard maintenance'. It seems the design of metal rails and bars in combination with tiny plastic tabs and attachments is a very bad combination

If you put bottles weighing too much in the doors they do not close properly and you have to give them an extra forceful push. LG service and support has not provided any service, just excuses.

On a scale of 1-10 we put LG at about a minus 5- never fully functioning, insufficient materials design, and poor service satisfaction.

LG : LFC20760SW Refrigerator Review

I will never again purchase an LG product and would suggest that all of you avoid them as well.Here's why:

1) Quality--Our previous refrigerator worked for about 25 years without ever needing a repair.Our LG refrigerator had a catastrophic failure in less than a year, becoming completely nonfunctional.

2) Parts availability--We were told that the electronics board, which is like your computer's motherboard, was on backorder for two months..The refrigerator cannot function without it, but none were available.

2) Customer service--Perhaps even worse than the fact that LG makes an unreliable product and doesn't stock essential components is the fact that their customer service is absolutely abysmal.Literally every single thing that I have been told by a customer service representative, supervisor, or "resolution agent" has been contradicted by someone else in LG's system.

So far I have made 13 phone calls in the 12 days since the appliance died, since no one ever calls you back.

Everyone has agreed, since day 4, that the unit is under warranty, that LG cannot make us wait for so long for the unit to be repaired, and that the refrigerator will be replaced with a new one.But for some reason the case still had to "reviewed," which two people said would take 3-5 days another said 7-10 days, another said she'd mark "urgent" to expedite it, etc.

The exchange was then disapproved and the part that wasn't available until 8/25 suddenly would be available on 7/27 (or 7/31, depending upon which person was lying to me at the time).Since the odyssey started on 7/12, we didn't feel that waiting 2 weeks without a refrigerator was reasonable at any time, but especially during the summer.

We'd already had to throw out food, we'd been unable to buy groceries because we had nowhere to store them, we'd canceled a party for 30 people because we couldn't store things in advance of preparing them, and we'd spent money eating out each night.

I complained and the exchange was magically approved.But first it had to be assigned to an agent who would organize the exchange.I was given an agent's name and direct phone number.That agent has never called me, not even in response to the three messages I've left in the last two days.

So it has been almost two weeks already and although everyone has known that LG needs to provide a new replacement refrigerator, we still have no information about when that may be.Do yourself a favor and avoid the continuous aggravation and endless hassle--just don't buy LG products.

The manual that came with this fridge did not match the actual model. Tech support (Samsung)
was useless in setting up the fridge electronics. You'll have to google for proper instructions.
Icemaker tends to get knocked into the ice tray occassionally but a very good, spacious design.
I did not know how I would like water inside rather than in the door, but I have come to like this
design better than in the door models now.

LG : LFC25770SB Refrigerator Review

I purchased this fridge from another retailer in Aug 2007. I loved it and was so pleased with it until the ice maker kept breaking, and then it leaked, and then we realized the freezer wasn't keeping the desired temperature- freezing. I tried the manufacturers suggestions but it didn't seem to help. After a couple months of denial and a 20 degree freezer (it's supposed to be 0), I called an authorized service technician who took the freezer apart and told me that i had a "sealed system leak". Probably the worst repair possible because even though the major parts are still under warranty the labor to repair my 2 year old, highly rated, Consumer Reports recommended, expensive but beautiful would cost $700 to repair. And considering the comments I've seen on other websites, the repair probably won't last. Do yourself a favor and pick something else because LG won't stand behind their products and a class action suit may be in the offing.

Four months ago we purchased an LG LFC25770SW French Door Refrigerator.My husband & I LOVE this appliance.The refrigerator is very well designed & constructed.We've never had an ice box with such well used and easily accessible space.This baby holds a TON of food.
The french door design with freezer below is ideal for us.We can find things easily - no more old-very-old food lost in the recesses.The temperature settings are right there at the top front of the refrigerator when you open the door and they're digital.It's the cold we want it to be, exactly, and all the time.
Best feature is the freezer.There's a huge bin at the bottom and a slide out shelf above. When you open it everything is right there and it holds the cold in while you're browsing for the package you need.The ice maker (ours is inside the freezer not in the door) is trouble free and is tucked up in the far upper left corner of the freezer, taking very little space.
Overall, this is the best refrigerator we've EVER had.Four months later we still comment to each other about how much we like it. Definitely recommend it.Definitely would purchase it again.

Electrolux EI26SS55GS 25.9 cu. ft. Side by Side Refrigerator w/IQ-Touch - Stainless Steel Review

I actually have the EI26SS65GS which only differs slightly with the touch controls.

The high point of this refrigerator that makes it stand out from the crowd is that it is fully constructed in stainless steel while the others just have stainless steel cladding in the front but not on the sides.

This makes for a handsome refrigerator since this is not a counter depth model so the sides show.

Both freezer and refrigerator interior has ample storage. The interior lights have a nice effect of being initally dim at first and then fully brightens up.

A good point is the vacation mode you can set that saves electricityby not turning on the defrosting cycle when you are away.

My only grievance is the the design of the ice dispenser which delivers the ice (both cubes and crushed) which such force and intensity that the ice is spilled all over the floor and a clean up is always necessary. My 4 year old kid is so afraid to use it.

The delivery men do not install the water dispenser hose so I had to do it myself and it was somewhat of an effort threading it properly. I mis-threaded the first hose and had to buy an aftermarket replacement at $7. It seems that the original hose is hard to find item.

For the $2,500 we paid for it, we expected that the Ice dispenser flaw would have been discoverd and remedied before production.

FYI: unit made in Mexico.

1/3/2010:Got this fridge yesterday from Sears except in White.Looks real nice and so far is quieter than my older one.Had a water leak in the door of this fridge on day one but after easily moving the hose coil in the chiller it stopped.The quick-connect water lines don't like to be bent so that was the issue there.The unit cooled down fast and I was able to stock the fridge in an hour after the doors were kept shut.It was hard not opening them to keep looking inside.:)I'm not concerned about the energy consumption.I wanted a small french door fridge with water and ice in the door and this (and the Kenmore version) were the only models that met the specifications.

1/11/2010 Update:I really love this fridge!It is so bright inside. The ice maker keeps up with me filling up my 40oz water bottle with ice every day plus other general use from other people at home.As a bunch of people say as well though on these style fridges, when cubes is selected some crushing action still happens but for the most part whole cubes come out.If you were really fussy about needing just cubes this may be a downfall however it seems to be a problem on all french door fridges with ice in the door.You just have to weigh your options / needs.I use mostly crushed ice when I'm at home and cubes in my water bottle so a little crushed ice with my cubes isn't a problem.Compared to my old fridge/freezer (standard freezer on top model) this fridge/freezer has a lot more room inside however door storage is less because the icemaker takes up the door space.Not a big deal though as I'd rather have more main compartment storage.I'm really happy with the purchase.

1/19/2010 Update:No more complaints here.Love the fridge and all it's features.Freezer on the bottom is great!Lots of room.

My wife and I bought this refrigerator for our new home.I am usually a big fan of LG products because of their focus on making them user friendly with some well-thought-out features.However, this product has been a disappointment.Less than 2 months after our purchase we had to have the computer control board replaced.The ice maker frequently gets jammmed with refrozen ice cubes because of the design of the outlet which allows ice cubes to thaw and then refreeze at the outlet.In addition, the top freezer drawer gets ice build-up that makes the drawer hard to open.I thought defrosting freezers was something that was in the past!To top it off, we have already had one of the door racks break.This unit is far too expensive to have this many strikes against it!

As much as I liked a similar GE Profle model with LED lights, I couldn't justify spending $800 to buy LED lights (the primary if not the only distinction between this model and the GE).I specifically wanted this model because it does not have the door ice/water dispenser, which seems to be especially prone to freezing and other issues across all brands of French Door/Bottom Freezer fridges on the market.

This fridge is huge, as others have stated, both inside and outside.I bought it knowing it would never fit where the old fridge was--eventually, we will build a kitchen around this fridge.For now, it is great to have digital temperature controls, a very large freezer space, and, as someone who is very tall, it is great to be able to see inside the fridge without bending over.

The door pockets are very deep--enough so to hold a gallon of milk in either the left or the right door.The shelves slide out.There's 4 vegetable drawers and the fridge came with a "bonus plastic shoe box" as an extra crisper/box thingy.The compressor noise is very minimal--most of the time, the fridge is virtually silent.

Another reviewer mentioned the door alarm--yes, it's loud, but it doesn't come on until the doors have been for a few minutes--more than enough time to get jobs done.And from thereon, it seems to beep 3 times and then stay silent for 60 seconds.I think that's reasonable.The door alarm is important because these French Door fridges can appear to be closed but actually be open.That is a flaw across brands and seems intrinsic to keeping the gap between the doors sealed vs. visibility of the gap--so the door alarm serves an important purpose.
We've had this over a month and love it.The only complaints are that the finish marks easily (greasy fingers) and the lights are hot to the touch.But it looks sharp, keeps food cold, and has lots of space.

Love this Refrigerator.It is not only exceptionally nice looking, but super quite and extremely functional. Lots of usable room inside, particularly since there is no center post between the doors. We almost always get complements on it when we have company. The price on this was more than we origanally planned on spending, but than we where fortunate to find a floor model at Home Depot for a good price.

My onlygripe is the stainless doors show prints very easily and it seems like we are constantly cleaning them. Besides that we have had this refrigerator for over a year now with abselutly no problems.

The exterior ice and water dispensers on the door is a one of a kind arrangement, only found in this make to my knowledge. It has the room where you can fill a whole pitcher of water or ice from it.It also has a LED control panel on the door exterior, with buttons for 8 different functions. Such as ice crushed or cubes, "it also makes 3 different size ice cubes ". It has 2 buttons, one each to set the temp. for the Frig. and the Freezer. It has a ice plus button, when pressed will make ice cubes faster in the event you have company. It has a button to light the panel up, also one to lock the panel. The last button is to reset the water filter expiration timer, which is displayed on the LED panel. There is easy access to the water filter which is in the inside of the refrigerator.

The doors are also unusual in that they close hydraulically to make sure they are closed and will set off an alarm if they are not fully closed. Also when a door is open all the fans turn off to help maintain the inside temperature.

The ice cube maker is inside the the front door which is unusual since it has nothing to do with the regular freezer, it's a separate unit. The freezer has the main bin on the bottom and another fairly large sliding bin on top of that. It holds quite a bit with it's inside door storage.

All I can say is this refrigerator far exceeds any refrigerator I have previously owned, and would highly recommend it.

LG LSC26905TT 25.9 Cu. Ft. Side-by-Side Refrigerator Review

Two years ago I decided to get rid of my old Sears Kenmore.Several small things broke (holding brackets) and the fridge needed a new fan.Also, due to it being old, it would get small rust dots on the white face.It was old, about 15 years but never broke.

I was also enamored with the new 'stainless steel' look and went to Best Buy.This is where I located LG - at that time a relatively new manuacturer.I paid $1,079.99 for the LSC26905TT- mid range for fridges.My rep assured me LG was great and very reliable.I typically verify this before making a purchase, but did not this time.Now I am regretting it!I'm also an idiot for NOT getting the extended warranty.

Fast forward just two years.Four things have broken.My freezer is now having the same problems as the Kenmore.The freezer shelf now comes off - don't ask me how - it just does.I no longer can get ice cubes - it crushes everything.On the fridge side of the meat drawer - the track is cracked.Lastly on the floor is a grey piece of plastic to cover the front - that too is broken.

I called Best Buy and they want me pay for a tech to come out - $100 to start!This is brand new fridge!I then called LG, just asking for free parts - I'll fix it myself.Guess what - they only have a one year warranty!The rep was very nice and is filing a voice of customer complaint.That simply means they'll review it and see if an exception can be made.

However, who in their right mind would buy something that has FOUR PROBLEMS in the first two years!Fridges are supposed to last ten plus!I'm such an idiot.The plastic on this fridge is CHEAP - the Kenmore was 1000% better made.

While LG's customer service rep was nice and I did not wait long - it's their product quality I'm concerned about.Don't make the same mistake I did.Spend a bit more and get a better brand.It only will take one service call for you to make your money back!

LG Panorama : LMX25981ST 24.7 cu. ft. French Door Refrigerator Review

I LOVE the look of my new fridge.It's unique.I love having 2 separate handles for each of the freezer compartments.Stores a ton more stuff than it looks.Keeps the food very cold.In fact, I had to dial down the cold air on several occasions when I first got the fridge, esp. in the winter.

The taste of the water from the water filtration system is not bad.BUT....the water dispenser totally sucks.I'm constantly spilling water because the spout is soooo close to the "water-push" button that a cup barely fits between the spout and the button.If you put the cup lower (below the "water-push" button, the water splashes out of the cup.The ice, esp. the crushed ice, always splash out of the cup.I'm constantly cleaning the fridge area because I'm constantly splashing water and/or ice.If the spout could have been placed an extra 1cm outward, it probably would have helped this problem greatly.Also, if the ice dispenser could dispense the ice more gently, it would also have helped
